Filter coffee makers, sometimes pour and serve coffee makers use a particular, slightly courser coffee grind to brew coffee usually into decanters. The ground coffee is held in a filter paper and water passes, from a reservior, through the coffee and drops into a decanter below. The advantage of filter coffee makers is that they can cope with a relatively high volume of coffee with a small, economical coffee machine.
